New series Sober Sisters

I've been having an urge to paint more portraits. And what happens? A colleague reached out with an idea to have me paint portraits of the women living at her sober houses. As a perk for them on their path of transformation. What a great project! Just finished the first portrait, of Avah, who kindly said "Ok to share" . 

I met with A. at a recent Bright Spot Sober House pot luck. We had an opportunity to talk, I snapped some photos, made A. feel awkward by staring at her face...what a good sport! Then back to the studio where I painted the portrait about 5 times.
