Upcoming Watercolor Classes: Focus on Nature

Inspired by Fall in Minnesota. We can paint everything from the colors in a single leaf to a landscape of blaze orange maple trees against a blue sky. Through demos, critiques, and painting sessions in class, we'll cover color mixing, and how to see and use value changes to strengthen your paintings.

Classes will be Tuesdays, October 29-December 3 from 9:30am to 12:30pm
Registration now open.

Watercolor for Beginners - Everwood Farm, August 2022

I was thrilled to be back at Everwood teaching this one day workshop. Working in the barn with the doors wide open, a gentle breeze, and fifteen eager painters, many who had never painted before. Which was hard to believe by the end of day. What a great group. I tried out my idea of painting a landscape without drawing. Inspired by this short video of artist Lena Gemzoe painting.

This 9-day plein air workshop in Tuscany was hosted  by AncoraItalia Tours, just outside Lucca, in Italy.

We painted in many different locations including; Florence, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Cinque Terre and  Castello Verrazzano, a wine estate and medieval castle.

In the evenings we gathered at our home base, Mulino, a beautifully renovated 12th century olive mill in the hills above Lucca. Reviewing our work and adding finishing touches to our paintings.
